Abbotsford

The Queen will climb at least 39 steps before opening a new Peebles museum. The John Buchan museum, which the Queen opens on Wednesday honour's Lord Tweedsmuir, Peeble's best known literary son. Later, but without returning via Waverley  or taking tea at Marmions in Melrose, the royal party will move on to Sir Walter Scott's former home Abbotsford near Galashiels which has undergone a multi-million pound restoration.

As I photographed Abbotsford from the opposite side of the River Tweed this mum and her eight ducklings swam past. (Click on Either image to enlarge)

Hedgehog

Just thinking I've not seen a hedgehog for ages and one walked across my track at 11pm last night. Lucky camera's have built in flashes as even with a super high ISO it would not have been possible to photograph this prickly portrait. (Click on image to enlarge)

Eildon Hills

Sunlight bathes cows in the folds of a field between Galashiels and Melrose. In the background the Eildon hill's lower slopes are covered in flowering gorse and broom. (Click on image to enlarge)

Linkedin

Linkedin luvvies looking for connections can be the rudest people. Last week a typical connection request appeared in the in-box and in an email from a well known photographic dealer.
Whilst I'd never met the man, I'd been aware of his existence for almost 40 years. My teacher, Jim Page, who introduced me to photography at the age of 10 had bought a camera from this dealer.
Somehow I'd remembered the conversation, probably reinforced by advertisements for the dealer's business, through the years in photographic magazines such as "Amateur Photographer".
So, I responded and said I'd be happy to accept his invitation to connect and at the same time sent a personnal note (message within Linkedin) stating how I'd heard of him all that time ago.
Did I get any sort of reply or acknowledgement?
Not a peep, quick to delve through my connections no doubt but not so quick to reply, so he may have some super recommendations but he's no longer one of my connections.

Cygnets

Seven cygnets snuggle into mum on at the Water of Leith in Edinburgh. One egg has not hatched and maybe infertile. I plan to return during the year until the youngsters fully fledge.

Peebles Cycling Club 25 mile Time Trial

Time trialling on Leadburn Moor this evening

Time Trial

Neck and Neck on the lonely expanse of Leadburn Moor, the final metres of the first nine miles climbing, during Peebles Cycling Clubs premier 25-mile time trial this evening.

Front Step

Max and I just after I moved the Azalea to the front step. The next task was to tie the climbing rose back to the house front above the window. It is all intertwined with the rose branches which made for a prickly half-hour.

Blipfoto Advert on My Blog

This really made me chuckle today I have removed myselft from Blipfoto.com and made some dramatic changes to my own blog. Including re-installing Google Advertisements between posts. Scrolling through the blog this morning I found an advert for Blipfoto, they won't refund my member's subscription but it is very tempting to click on the advertisement a few times.

Apple Blossom

Two different shades of apple blossom on our allotment tree - the pink on the left was purposely shot at a fast shutter speed with fill flash to darken the background. Fill Flash was used on the right to pick out the white against the sky, with exposure set for the sky. We should now escape cold nights and may be in for another bumper crop.
